A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To…STRESS!

It’s always nice to have things going your way isn’t it?
No real hassles or worries on your horizons…till you go to your mailbox!
It’s always nice when you get something in the mail, that just hits your reset button right?
Well isn’t this just special.
Okay, so my question is ” How Do We Handle The Stress That’s Crossed Our Path ?”
Okay, how about I suggest my 5 ways to handle stress…
- Take A Walk- Okay, I realize that this doesn’t sound like a big ” Stress Reliever “, but dependant on the cause of your stress, taking this walk can change your situation, changing your situation can change your point of view, and changing your point of view can change your ” Attitude “, thus changing your focus and thus (hopefully ) relieving your stress factor.
- Have A Good Meal-You would be surprised just how much stress you can let go of over a ” Good Meal ” with some friends…now I should caution you that my idea of a good meal is usually a kin to a ” Large Well Baked Pizza With Sausage & Extra Cheese “, but I mean if your willing to, I’d certainly eat a ” Surf & Turf ” meal with a bottle of Corona, on your dime of course! Certainly a relief of Stress on my Wallet.
- Exercise-Okay, this is an obvious one to be sure, but that rush that you get from a good workout at the Gym, or a good Run, or even a good amount of time lets say playing your ” Drum Set ” ( of course if you have a drum set ) is a great way to relieve that stress factor and get that ” Endorphin Rush ” that you just might crave…like a good pizza!
- Read A Book-Okay, this might not seem like a great stress reliever, but that depends on how your reading your book. It just so happens that I have a fireplace in our family room and I find that when I want to get away from it all ( including getting away from stress ) that’s the place for me, with the fire going, my Kindle turned on….. and just what am I reading on my Kindle ( when I haven’t misplaced it! ) why something from the realm of Fantasy, usually from author Terry Brooks. Right now I’m in the middle of Brooks’s ” Voyage of the Jerle Shanarra -Isle Witch “. Yes, for me Fantasy is a prerequisite so that I’m taken somewhere else.
- Staring At My Fish tank-You’d be surprised, just how much I find this a relaxing activity. There is a whole other life that we are not aware of…in the sea. And if a fish tank is set up properly, that tank can mimic a small part of an ocean, with it’s inhabitants, moving from one place to another. It can be quite fascinating. I have to tell you that you can sometimes get lost looking at what the inhabitants of your tank are doing.

As stress can have a very real impact on a compromised system, it is imperative for one to explore avenues by which to dimish it’s effect. This is a good list for starters and I imagine that it would vary for each individual.

I’ve got another post coming up dealing with stress taken from Darren Hardy, the publisher of Success Magazine and I think it is an interesting view on stress…although I do not necessarily agree with his outlook on the subject.
