What’s In A Name For A Blog About Churg Strauss? Everything!

Posted by Lew on November 22, 2009

Hi and thanks so much for returning to my blog. RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

You might have noticed that when you type in the web address for the is blog, Lew Newmark: My Domestic Life.com, has a different web address..which is www.mlcss .com…check out the video below for a short explanation…

So, just what is in a name…well sometimes it can be everything.

A name can be important in a lot of respects dependant on what you are trying to accomplish with just what you are naming…I should explain just why this post has come up and what relevance it has to do with CSS or Vascular disease.

I just happened to notice a search on the blog that happened to mention a post I had made back in December of 08.

Around this time, I was very disillusioned with several things…my life, my job, where I found myself still working ( unhappily I might add ) after better than 14 years ( I am in the middle of completing my 15th year at this place ) and the worst disillusionment of all…this blog.

I had a very bad experience with one of the online support groups back in September of 08, and frankly, people in general in the CSS community just did not seem to want to jump on and talk about their issues outside of their own groups.

I hadn’t been writing on this blog very long, but I just could not understand at the time, the reluctance to even take a look at the blog, much less contribute anything to make the blog better.

So, in what I can only say was just a lapse in judgement at the moment ( hey, in my defense, I had only been diagnosed with CSS a few months before ) I had decided to just call it quits with the blog.

So, I just left it alone for a bit, with the intention to come back to it and do something totally different.

Well, long story short, just a few months later, I had decided to come back and give the blog another chance at life…I felt that it was important to continue to talk about CSS and other Vascular conditions outside of the ” Support Group ” forums, and I also decided that a name change was in order, and I had decided that I would associate myself personally ( I mean this is MY blog ) with the blog, by just putting my name up here and also doing the video’s that you see on here sometimes accompanying some of these posts, which in and of itself I was a bit concerned about, as I was not to0tally prepared to just throw my face up here, and lose some of the ” Anonymity ” that a blog can afford it’s owner, but I also felt that I could not expect others to come on here and leave comments and possibly contribute a post in the future without myself being totally committed to this blog and it’s purpose, so I felt that giving up a bit of that anonymity was well worth it,  as long as the people that I am trying to reach out to,  felt just a bit more comfortable coming here and even just leaving a comment on the blog.

So that’s why a name ( and a face ) can be important sometimes…especially when it comes to personalizing a blog.
