Five Reasons I’m Not Grateful That I Have Churg Strauss Syndrome

Posted by Lew on November 18, 2009

Hi and thanks so much for returning to my blog. RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Okay, a while ago I had done a five part series titled Five Reasons I’m Grateful I Have Churg Strauss Syndrome.

The reason for this series was to point out that even though you find yourself living with something that can ( and is ) life altering, it doesn’t mean that this ( or any ) disease has to be who and what you are…in other words, having a disease does not have to be a defining factor when it comes to who you are as a person.

Churg Strauss And Why Doing My Yardwork Is Different Now

Posted by Lew on August 6, 2009

Hi there everyone.

When Sue and I bought our home over ten years ago, we ( well actually…she ) came to an agreement about responsibilities here…Sue would handle the stuff inside our house such as laundry, dishes and so forth, while I would be responsible for the outside house stuff…things like yard work…which includes taking care of all the grass around our house…in other words front and back.

Now, at the time, I had no problem with this arrangement ( not that it would have mattered if I had at that time ) of course now, mowing the yard ( front and back ) is a major issue…but let’s take a look at some of the work involved with maintaining the yard in this less than perfect first video, using my handy, dandy Blackberry…

A Typical CSS Day

Posted by Lew on June 10, 2009

Evening everyone.

Well, all in all this was a ” Typical Bad CSS ” day for me, and of course I’ll explain just why.

Now, just what is a ” Typical Bad CSS ” day for me? …

First waking up disoriented and feeling over tired.

After the first few minutes, the coughing starts to come on strong, and the weather here in upstate NY for the past few days has just not been very cooperative or conducive to my condition..in other words Rainy, Overcast, and Muggy weather does absolutely nothing to help my lungs feel any better.

When I am having a bad CSS day, it also takes a lot longer for me to get my body moving and just basically getting the blood flowing through my system.

Then comes the Neuropathy…on days like these, it usually is more than just a nuisance, it is a major player as far as contributing to my overall discomfort.

A CSS Sunday

Posted by Lew on March 29, 2009

I find it just amazing how this little unknown, untalked about ( outside of certain circles ) disease can just change make or break your day.

My weekend has just become a mixed bag due to it.

I woke up yesterday, and had  great day….I almost felt like I had several years ago before all of this happened to me.

I ate just fine, didn’t have that ” Bloated ” feeling like I sometimes do. Went about my business yesterday and felt fine, even after dinner and going to bed.

I woke up this morning feeling okay…but not as great as yesterday.

Today, after breakfast it all went downhill. My stomach has been winning this race.

The ” Placebo Effect ” Or Is The New Pill Actually Working?

Posted by Lew on February 24, 2009

Yesterday, I wound up with an appointment with my Doctor for my Neuropathy.

I won’t go into the long story here…I’ll probably explain what I spoke of with the doc at a later time, but I was prescribed a new drug ( new for me that is ) called Neurontin ( Oral ) and I guess the generic name for the drug is Gabapentin.

Neurontin Oral Uses

Gabapentin is used with other medications to help control seizures in adults and children (3 years of age and older). It is also used to relieve nerve pain associated with shingles (herpes zoster) infection in adults.
